There are customization options available to create Flexamat specific for site conditions.
Flexamat Width
Flexamat can be manufactured in sections up to 16' wide and less in 1' increments. Standard widths are 4', 5.5', 8', 10', 12' &16'. Length is customizable but standard length is 50'. Flexamat weighs 10lbs. per square foot. We can work with the contractor to determine the optimal roll length.
Underlayment Material
Standard Flexamat is manufactured with a double net straw backing. The straw helps with establishing vegetation growth by retaining moisture in the soil. The straw also helps to prevent erosion before vegetation is established.
Flexamat may also be manufactured with American Excelsior products such as Curlex® or Recyclx®, coconut blankets and other TRMs. These are used when site conditions require an underlayment that needs to be semi-permanent to permanent. We will work with the project designer to determine what underlayment material will be be suited for their project.
Flexamat may also be manufactured with non-woven fabrics attached to the back of the Flexamat. This can be done in instances where vegetatio
n growth is not desired or not possible, (subjected to continuous flows). Fabric is also used when Flexamat is installed over plastic liners. The fabric provides a protective barrier between the liner and the concrete blocks. The project engineer can select the thickness of the fabric, based on the site condidtions.
Color
Due to the specialized manufacturing process, we are unable to dye the concrete during manufacturing. Once Flexamat is installed, it may be sprayed with a concrete dye. There are a wide variety of concrete dyes available. In most cases, vegetation will cover Flexamat so the color of the product will not matter. In instances where it is manufactured with a fabric backing, the Flexamat will be visible.
